My weight loss journey:

Welcome, to the first *of MANY* fitness, weight loss, & health related posts to come!

I lost *and have since kept off* 50LBs!

I have learned & experienced so much on my journey. I would LOVE to share all of this with you, in hopes to help you along your own!

FYI: I want to fully disclose I am NOT an expert, nutritionist, doctor, trainer, nor am I licensed in nutrition/fitness/health, or anything of that nature.

I can only share my experience and what has worked for me. I have been able to maintain my goal weight (with the exception of 5 +/-LBS) ever since reaching it.
What had worked for me, may or may not work for you…however I hope you are able to take something from my experience and advice, that helps to motivate & inspire you.

The Backstory:

My entire child and teen hood, i was always “average” weight.
(Keep in mind, Im only 5’3″.)

Then college came around, *and let me just reminisce in this for a moment, because i LOVED college.* I really found myself, and came out of my shell those years. I made SO many more friends, and really had the time of my life.

(high school years and younger, i did not have many friends – i just kept to myself, and was pretty shy. I did not attend many functions or parties that the majority of the rest did – etc… more of a homebody than the social adventurist type… )

Back to the point: I will warn you, for those of you who get into the whole college experience, like myself…… “freshman 15” *or however many lbs* IS a REAL thing. It can creep up on you out of no where, without a healthy routine in place, and without knowing how to find your BALANCE.

So here’s the basic’s to achieve & maintain your weight loss goal:

–> The formula for failure 🙁

Living Without Balance.

  • What this means: Not getting enough exercise, and not eating enough healthy meals, + too much partying… AKA: too much cheap/unhealthy/fast food- alcohol – sleeping more / often sedentary, etc. NOTE: THIS IS NOT LIMITED TO JUST EFFECTING YOUR WEIGHT. Yes this style living can cause weight gain, (or for some, weight loss/muscle loss) This off balance living can and will also effect your mental state, your concentration, your relationships, your grades and how you are doing in sports or extra activities, and your over all well being. (Too much of one and not enough of the other. Losing control. Losing balance.)

–> The formula for success : )

Living WITH Balance.

  • What that is: Learning to balance your choices “good” and “bad.” You can still sleep in on the weekends, eat unhealthy options now & then, and drink — as long as you increase your exercise and include healthy meals/eating. You must educate yourself and stay aware of how you are treating your body. REMEMBER: A body in motion, stays in motion. A body at rest, stays at rest. It’s a LIFESTYLE. Not a diet. You MUST make your fitness goals a conscious routine. You must take care of your body with food it thrives for and needs. This again not only will help with your weight loss/maintenance but help with your mental state, release endorphins receive stress, improve focus and will fuel your body from the inside.

These tips and my advice are true for anyone, not just “college students.”
